Wojtek Doroszuk (b. 1980 in Poland) is a video artist based in Krakow, Poland and Rouen, France. He graduated from the Academy of Fine Arts in Kraków, Faculty of Painting, in 2006. In his para-documentary shorts he focuses on outsiders, extraordinary characters (e.g. a Turkish transsexual, a street poet from New York, a pathomorphologist – connoisseur of naive art) and unique places, often abandoned, forgotten, inaccessible (such as the long-closed fairground in Ankara, basements of an art institution). His works have been shown in, among others, Centre for Contemporary Art Ujazdowski Castle (Wrasaw), Zachęta National Gallery of Art (Warsaw), Museum of Modern Art (Warsaw), Location One (New York), Marina Abramovic Institute (San Francisco), Belfast Exposed, ICA (London), The Stenersen Museum (Oslo), Joseph Tang Gallery in Paris etc. In 2009 he was awarded with the Public Award of Deutsche Bank Art Prize (Zachęta National Gallery of Art, Warsaw, Poland); in 2013 he obtained the Honorable Mention of 15th Media Art Biennale in Wroclaw, Poland.
Wojtek Doroszuk is resident at A.I.R. FUTURA from April 2016 with the support of Visegrad Artist Residency Program – Visual and Sound Arts.
