Over the past ten years, Zsolt TIBOR has expanded the intellectual space of drawing both in physical and medium terms in his artistic practice. His earlier works on paper were combined with wall drawing and projection, then the works, made around 2010, have embodied in three-dimensional forms like objects and installations.
His works are based on serial, diary-like, automatic drawing. They come alive sometimes by increasing the dimensions of the paper and by the non-conventional use of different traditional medium, such as coloured pencil, graphite, stencils or templates, crayon and gouache. His complex artistic practice based on a large scale of various media which involves projectors, ready-mades and objects. He revolts against routine and habit, against the conformist petty bourgeoisie who desires perfection, and who follows and executes the orders of the social mechanism into which he integrates. His lyrical drawings are the blueprints of a metaphysical architecture, built on the non-existent ideas of an existing world.

Zsolt TIBOR (born 1973 Budapest, lives and works in Vienna) is one of the most prominent contemporary Hungarian artists of his generation. He graduated from the Painting Department of the Hungarian University of Fine Arts Budapest (2002).
Beside numerous collective projects, he had solo exhibitions at Trafo Gallery and VILTIN Gallery in Budapest, as well as at Lukas Feichtner Gallery in Vienna. Invited by SYNTAX’s and FUTURA’s residential program, his solo shows were on view in Prague and Lisbon during 2016. He also participated in the AIR program of Krinzinger Projekte (Vienna) and HIAP (Helsinki) previously. He is the owner of the STRABAG Artaward International (2009) as well as the Esterházy Art Award (2015). His works are included in the permanent collections of the Ludwig Museum – Museum of Contemporary Art Budapest, the Hungarian National Gallery, the Museum of Spanish Contemporary Graphics and the Carousel Collection in NYC.
