Živa Božičnik Rebec
Živa Božičnik Rebec studied Glass and Ceramics on Academy of Fine Arts Ljubljana(2010-2014). She continued her study of MA Sculpture master program in previously mentioned faculty. In years 2014-2017 she was active at studio collective KCŠ (Kreativna cona Šiška) in Ljubljana. She had various exhibitions in her homeland and abroad. She works as mix-media artist and as a designer.
In the process of my work I have thematic concerns but favour plurality over the continuation of one idea and exposing themes in a way that makes artworks focused on a material end result and coherent to viewers in the spaces they are exhibited. My use of mediae is fragmented but planned according to the rationals and constraints of individual projects. I combine art with design practices without Anthropocene functions, since I am not interested in the human body as a subject, but as an artefact of complementary matter. I deal with surfaces that give information about what’s under and inside of it. With new technologies, materialisation, artificial masses and intelligence, I can appeal to isolated and alien spaces. I am in search of ways of exhibiting self-standing independent artificial contexts and diverse haptic possibilities.
This residency is co-organised with the International Centre of Graphic Arts in Ljubljana
